Local Area Road Classifications

The following information was obtained from the City of Toronto website, Transportation Section:

Port Union Road is a designated a 'minor arterial' road. The criterion for number of traffic lanes is - "Minimum number of peak period lanes (excluding bicycle lanes) - Two".

Port Union Road does not require widening to meet its current classification - no matter what you hear.
